Mindpeak Gastric PD-L1 is an advanced software solution for automated image analysis of gastric cancer tissue samples. Designed for digital histopathology, it streamlines the analysis of PD-L1 stained images by detecting and classifying tumor and immune cells.
The image analysis involves detecting and classifying IHC-stained tumor and mononuclear inflammatory cells within whole slide images. Tumor cells are categorized as not-stained (Tumor negative) or stained (Tumor positive), while mononuclear inflammatory cells are classified as stained (Positive mononuclear inflammatory cell). A combined positive score (CPS) is provided, representing the proportion of PD-L1 positive cells relative to the total number of PD-L1 positive and PD-L1 negative tumor cells.
Step 1: Retrieve or select an image with the immunohistochemical PD-L1 staining, suited for automated analysis.
Step 2: The result of Mindpeak Gastric PD-L1 whole slide analysis is displayed.
Step 3: Review, adjust and correct the results of the automated analysis in an integrated interactive.
Step 4: Make a final analytic decision.
Mindpeak Gastric PD-L1 is a stand-alone software module for automated image analysis.
For interaction with the medical device it must be integrated into an interactive image viewer software that allows the user to manually select or correct regions of interest for analysis with the medical device. Such a viewer must also allow users to review and adjust the results of the Mindpeak Gastric PD-L1 on an individual cell level. The technical interface for this integration is provided by the Mindpeak AI Interface Definition API.
Mindpeak Gastric PD-L1 runs as a web service either in the cloud or on a dedicated on-premise server in the laboratory network. The cloud variant is specified and provided by Mindpeak or distribution partners and requires no additional hardware by the user. For minimum requirements for an on-premise solution, please contact us.
The AI demonstrated a higher agreement with pathologists than pathologists with each other, while classifying more patients as eligible for immunotherapy.
Specifically, the AI showed a higher correlation and better concordance (+15%, p<0.05) in classifying patients than pathologists. Overall, the AI detected over 50% more positive cases (46 vs. 30.3), suggesting that the application of AI could help identify more patients eligible for targeted PD-L1 therapy.

The software accurately identifies PD-L1 positive and negative tumor cells, as well as positive mononuclear inflammatory cells, and calculates the combined positive score (CPS). Tumor cells are classified as either not stained (Tumor negative) or stained (Tumor positive), while mononuclear inflammatory cells are classified as stained (Positive mononuclear inflammatory cell).
With background image pre-calculation, all detected and classified cells are instantly visualized — just load the digital slide, and your analysis is ready!
The reliability of Mindpeak Gastric PD-L1 is unique: it provides accurate results even in challenging contexts as it was developed with typical lab-specific variations in mind, such as slide preparation, staining and imaging.
Mindpeak Gastric PD-L1 is compatible with a wide range of scanners and can be seamlessly integrated into existing workflows.
